King Kong Splash Power Play — review

Gameplay and paytable

King Kong Splash: Power Play is a 6-reel game with 4096 ways. Wins form from left to right on consecutive reels with matching symbols; only the highest win per way is paid, and all winning combinations are summed. The official RTP is 94 %, and it's the same in Power Play, Super Power Play and Ultra Power Play modes. The largest possible win is 10 000× the stake.

Payouts are read from the paytable at a stake of 1,00 GBP. Kong (the hunter) pays highest with 6 symbols 5,00 (5x bet), 5 symbols 2,50 (2,5x), 4 symbols 2,00 (2x), 3 symbols 1,00 (1x), 2 symbols 0,50 (0,5x). Rhino and tiger pay on the same scale with 6/5/4/3/2 symbols 2,50/2,00/1,50/0,80/0,40. Parrot and crocodile pay 2,00/1,50/1,20/0,60/0,20. Low card symbols (two different sets) pay for 3–6 symbols either 1,50/1,20/1,00/0,50 or 1,00/0,80/0,60/0,40 depending on the symbol.

Wild, Collect and Kong's Cash Modifiers

The Wild symbol substitutes for all symbols except the Bonus Scatter, Collect Scatter, Cash Prize Scatter and Super Shark symbol. Wilds can appear only on reels 2–6.

Cash Prize Scatter symbols can drop on a reel with values of 0,5x–20x the stake. Collect Scatter symbols are active on reels 1 and 6: when a Cash Prize Scatter is visible and a Collect Scatter lands on reel 1 and/or 6, the Collect feature triggers and the Collect symbol expands to cover the whole reel, collecting the visible cash values.

During the base game or a Power Play round, one of four reel modifiers may randomly activate: Feeding Frenzy adds Cash Prize Scatter symbols to a reel; Bonus Boost adds Bonus Scatter symbols; Win Boost upgrades reel symbols randomly to the top symbol and/or Wild (base game only); Wipeout clears all symbols from a reel and replaces them with new ones that award a win.

Special Collectors and Super Shark

The Collect symbol collects the visible Cash Prize Scatter values. Expand Collect expands Cash Prize values across the whole reel (values on the same reel are summed) creating a Boost Zone that spins and brings a fish that can increase the collected value up to 10× the base bet. Cascade Collect removes all other symbols except Collect and Cash Prize Scatter symbols, and new symbols fall in to award a win. Colossal Collect gathers all Cash Prize Scatter values and brings a giant reel above reels 2–5 that spins and adds to the collected value — this can repeat up to 5 times. Reel Collect spins a mini-reel that can award up to 5 additional Cash Prize Scatter symbols or turn into another Collect symbol.

The Super Shark symbol expands and increases in value whenever it lands together with any Collect Scatter symbol, until the shark is finally 'caught'.

Bonus, Feature Upgrades and Power Play

3 or more Bonus Scatter symbols visible trigger the bonus and give the player a choice between Kong Bonus Spins or Fishin' Mayhem rounds: 6 symbols = 500x bet + bonus rounds, 5 symbols = 100x bet + rounds, 4 symbols = 20x bet + rounds, 3 symbols = only rounds (10 Kong Bonus Spins or 5 Fishin' Mayhem Spins).

Kong Bonus Spins: 10 spins; Collect Scatter symbol accumulation awards extra spins and multipliers - 3 gives 5 extra spins and x2 multiplier, 6 gives 5 extra spins and x3, 9 gives 5 extra spins and x5, 12 gives 5 extra spins and x10. Multiplier applies only to cash values that are under 49x bet.

Fishin' Mayhem: 5 rounds with a special collection grid; only cash prizes pay. Collecting Kong symbols awards extra rounds and raises the minimum cash value: 3 pcs = 3 extra rounds + 2x stake minimum, 6 pcs = 3 extra rounds + 3x, 9 pcs = 3 extra rounds + 5x, 12 pcs = 3 extra rounds + 8x stake minimum.

Red, blue and green Bonus Scatter symbols fill the corresponding Feature Upgrade banks (Extra Spins, Collect Boost, Trail Boost), which can combine with each other and activate in the next triggered bonus.

In Power Play mode (if the operator allows) the player can choose Standard Power Play (5x base bet), Super Power Play (10x) or Ultra Power Play (20x) — in each mode only certain scatter symbols are active, which increases the chance of the bonus. Feature rounds are always played at the base bet even in Power Play mode.
