How we test

This page explains exactly what we do before a number, rating or recommendation ends up on the site — and equally exactly what we do not do.

The method is deliberately boring. It's also the only reason to trust anything written here.

1. Figures are read from the game's own info

Every catalogue game's RTP, volatility, grid and max win are read from the game's own info panel or the manufacturer's published game details. We don't copy numbers from other reviews or counters, because mistakes would be replicated forward without anyone checking the original source.

If a figure hasn't been published, the game page will state that it has not been disclosed. An empty field is information too — guessing is not. When a game is part of an RTP range series, it is noted separately, because in that case the casino selects the active return version and you should check the figure for the exact game you're playing. The topic is covered in full in the article RTP and volatility in plain language.

2. Games are played by the player

Before the final review the game is played through: the base game rhythm, bonus triggering and the paytable are checked with our own eyes, and screenshots are taken from the session. The images visible on the game page are from our own session — we do not publish marketing images as gameplay.

When a game has just been released and no session has yet been run, the page will state that this is a preview and which points will be confirmed later. The score is then marked as a preview rather than a final verdict.

Screenshot or nothing

If a game feature hasn't been seen on screen, it won't be written down as an observation. A feature list may state that the game has a bonus buy; how much the buy costs and what it actually awards will be written only after it's been observed.

3. Casinos verified from the source

In casino reviews bonus percentages, wagering multipliers, minimum deposits and campaign terms are read from the casino’s own pages and recorded with the date. Terms change, so the date is part of the information: it shows when the figure was last true.

We also record what is not stated in the terms. If a wagering requirement cannot be found on the promotion page, that is an observation in itself and we say it out loud. We use public player feedback only with the source named and always state where it comes from — we do not write our own “player experiences” or invent names under reviews.

4. What we don't do

  • We do not test withdrawals with our own money. We do not claim to have made deposits or withdrawals we have not made. Payment-related information comes from the casino's own texts and public feedback, and the source is stated.
  • We do not publish a number we haven't seen in the source. The same applies to dates, play counts and bonus terms.
  • We do not invent reviews or usernames. The site contains no fabricated player testimonials.
  • We do not sell ratings. The commercial link does not affect the review or the ranking.
  • We do not promise wins. No systems, no “hot” games, no claims about when a game pays.

5. How the rating is formed

The stars and points of a slot review reflect the editorial stance, not a calculation formula. They are based on four things: what the game promises in its information, how it feels when played, how clearly the rules and the paytable are explained, and how well the numbers and the gameplay match each other. The rating is always justified in the text — a bare number without justification is not a review.

What matters in a casino review is transparency of bonus terms, the publicity of payment methods and limits, accessibility of support and public feedback with sources. A bad rating is written as bad even when the brand is popular.

6. Updates and bug fixes

Pages are updated when game or casino information changes, and the update date is shown on the page. If we notice an error, we fix it immediately and not silently: the corrected section and date remain visible on the page. An outdated figure is not left in place just because it looks better.

7. How we earn

MedusaSlots is free for the reader. The site is funded by affiliate links: yellow buttons and the floating offer badge lead to our network partner casino, and they are marked with the word "Ad. Links open in a new tab and are technically marked as advertising links.

A commercial button never leads to the brand under review on the same page. This way the tone of the review doesn't need to be adjusted to fit the ad: a poor brand can receive a poor review, and the reader can still see where to play if they wish. We do not charge for reviews or for placements on the list. The matter is explained in more detail on the page About us.
